Collapsed Retaining Wall at Asem II PHB Channel Under Repair

Joint personnel quickly responded to a collapsed retaining wall at the Asem II Connecting (Phb) Channel on Jalan Teratai, RT 04/03, Cipete Selatan Urban Village, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

...p ermanent repairs are still awaiting for this year's budget allocation.

Cipete Selatan Urban Village Head Supriono said the retaining wall collapsed on Saturday night (1/17) amid prolonged heavy rainfall, which caused water levels in Asem II Phb Channel to rise.

"The first collapse on Saturday night. Then on Sunday, January 18, a second collapse occurred, partially blocking the water flow in the Asem II Phb Channel," he said on Monday (1/19).

He explained that the cleanup efforts involved 20 Orange Troops, assisted by the Blue Troops from Cilandak Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Unit and other related personnel.

As of yesterday, Supriono said, debris from the collapsed retaining wall stretching about 30 meters, which had affected a motorcycle parking area, had been cleared, allowing water flow to normal.

"There were no casualties because the affected area is a parking lot and is usually empty at night. For further handling, we have coordinated with the local Water Resources Unit," he mentioned.

Meanwhile, Cilandak Sub-district SDA Unit Head, Yansori, outlined that all debris material had been fully removed. However, permanent repairs are still awaiting for this year's budget allocation.

"We've discussed it, and hopefully the repairs can be carried out as soon as possible," he noted.

Yansori added that as a temporary measure, his team has installed dolken woods to prevent the collapse from spreading.

"We also urge road users not to park their vehicles on the upper area close to the collapsed section," he stated.
